Final days for annual toy appeal

November 30, 2022

There is just one week left to donate to this year’s Goole Toy Appeal!

As the festive season fast approaches, we are asking one final time for your support to help make Christmas magical for all children in our area.

We know many people are struggling due to the cost of living crisis this year, but simply adding one small toy to your shopping trolley or buying a raffle ticket for our Goole Times raffle, will make a huge difference to a local child this Christmas.

There are so many ways to help and there are drop off points right across the area, so you don’t have to go miles out of your way to help!

Doing your weekly shop? There’s a place to donate. Getting your eyes tested? There’s another place to donate! Picking up your weekend chicken nugget fix, or weekly Goole Times? Even more places to donate!

Toys can be dropped off at any of the drop-off points including HEY Credit Union on Pasture Road, the Goole Times offices on Boothferry Road, the Goole branches of McDonalds, Specsavers, Morrisons, Tesco and TSB, and Two Rivers Community Pantry.

If you’re struggling to know what type of toy to buy, why not pop into the Goole branch of TSB and chose a tag from their Giving Tree!

Launched just this week, the tree has a series of tags hung on its branches, which include ideas for gifts and toys.

Simply pop into the bank on Pasture Road and pick a tag from the tree and add the item to your shopping basket when you’re next in the supermarket. Return the gift to the bank unwrapped and pop it in the trolley!

It doesn’t have to cost big-bucks to support the appeal either, you can help put a smile on a child’s face by donating as little as £1!

Here at the Goole Times we are running two amazing raffles to help raise funds towards the appeal.

We have two great prizes on offer including a Christmas food hamper and a children’s Manchester City football t-shirt, personalised with the name and number of striker Erling Haaland.

Tickets are £1 per strip and all money will be used to buy extra toys for local children!

Goole Times senior reporter, Emily Collins said: “Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this year’s appeal already, every single toy and penny donated is really appreciated and will make a big difference to a child in our local area.

“With just one week left to donate, please consider helping if you can.”

All collections and fundraisers will close on Friday, December 9.
